Filing for Unemployment
What you need to know about filing your Unemployment Insurance claim at WorkOne and Online.
Due to recent changes in both federal and state unemployment insurance compensation policies, the length of time you may be eligible to receive unemployment insurance benefits has been extended. For more information on how these changes may affect your claim, please visit the Department of Workforce Development's (DWD) website or call DWD at 1-800-891-6499.
The Process for Filing Online
If filing your Unemployment Insurance claim online:
STEP 1. Before logging into Uplink CSS, you will need the following information:
NOTE: Without the information listed below, you will be unable to complete the claim process
- Your Complete name and address
- Social Security number
- Personal identification
- Your most recent employer's name and address
- The dates you worked for your most recent employer
- The reason you are unemployed
STEP 2. Access Uplink CSS (Uplink Claimant Self Service).
STEP 3. Indiana Department of Workforce Development processes your claim.*
*NOTE: After you enter your claim, either online or at a WorkOne Center, it may take between 7 and 10 business days for DWD to process the claim, plus 3-4 weeks to issue your benefits and mail out your debit card. For more information, or to check on your status, please call 1-800-891-6499.
STEP 4. You may also be required by Indiana law to register for work through our job matching system, IndianaCareerConnect.com.
The process for filing Unemployment Insurance claims at WorkOne Centers:
If filing your Unemployment Insurance claim at a WorkOne Center, you will be required to enter your information via a computer terminal.
STEP 1. Be prepared:
Processing time averages about 45-60 minutes. Please allow yourself enough time to complete the process.
STEP 2. You must have and bring with you:
NOTE: Without the information listed below, you will be unable to complete the claim process.
- Your complete name and address
- Social Security number
- Personal identification: Drivers license or photo ID
- Your most recent employer's name and address
- The dates you worked for your most recent employer
- The reason you are unemployed
STEP 3. Indiana Department of Workforce Development processes your claim.*

- Help you sign-up for your benefits
- Inform you of training opportunities
- Help you enroll in the WorkOne system
